Learn to Swing Dance Workshop
This morning session will be a complete introduction to Lindy Hop. Everything you need to know to get you more comfortable swinging a partner around the dancefloor in only 3 hours!
This workshop will be aimed at people who have never danced before in their life. Learning any new skill is challenging but we will be breaking it down and going over the fundamentals nice and slow. (Tips and tricks can be shared to anyone with more experience).
If you don't have a willing partner to join you, no worries at all, we do change partners throughout the class so you can certainly come on your own or with friends.
If you don't want to change partners that's also no worries at all. We believe the best way to enjoy this dance is by dancing with with various levels of experience, but we do understand that not everyone is comfortable rotating partners in class. Changing partners is encouraged, but optional
Cost: Waged = $50 Unwaged* = $35

Amy and Jethro
Your experienced instructors, Amy and Jethro have been dancing and teaching for years. Jethro grew up in Arrowtown, Amy is from the hills around Perth. They have danced their way around NZ, Hawaii and Iceland and are now in Alexandra for the Autumn. Come and learn how to bounce around around the dancefloor while they're in town.

Not at all. We rotate partners during class as we find that this is the best way to learn this social dance. Show up by yourself, with your partner or with a group of friends. Any which way and we'll have a good time.
The swing dance we will be teaching is called Lindy Hop. This dance was born in the 30s and 40s, and done to all types of swing music. You'll hear Big Bands like Count Basie and more modern artists like Nina Simone plus plenty others.
This is a partner dance, that can be as relaxed or exciting as you want to make it. Slow dance to blues track or try spins and flips to fast exciting songs.
Yes of course. We'll make sure that everyone is catered for in these classes.
These are adult classes however we do regularly have 16 year olds joining, right up until 80 year olds.
